The Rutter Story Began in El Paso

In 1988, Douglas L. Rutter opened a tax practice in El Paso. The work called for careful judgment, personal accountability, and steady guidance through consequential decisions. He built the practice one relationship at a time, earning trust by following through.

As the business grew, Doug expanded into private investments and real estate, bringing the same discipline to ownership and stewardship.

Media and historical preservation created new ways to share the people, places, and stories that have shaped the Borderland.

Philanthropic work deepened the organization’s commitment to the community that helped it grow.
